  • Remarks:  Elder Young served as a young missionary in England, serving in Liverpool and Manchester.  Along with his brother, Brigham Young, Jr., Joseph A. was privately ordained to the office of apostle by his father, Brigham Young.  Joseph A. Young did not serve in the Quorum of the Twelve nor in the First Presidency.  He was active in territorial politics and was a member of the Utah Territory House of Representatives in its 6th, 11th, and 12th sessions.  He was also a member of the territory’s Upper Chamber for many years.  He was one of the main promoters of the Utah Central Railroad.
