ANSWER: The five temples that have portray Moroni holding a set of golden plates are the Los Angeles California Temple, the Washington D.C. Temple, the Seattle Washington Temple, the Jordan River Utah Temple, and the Mexico City Mexico Temple.

QUESTION: US 89 is a north-south highway that runs from the US-Mexican border near Nogales, Arizona to the US-Canadian border near Babb, Montana.  From 1972 until the early 1990’s, US 89 passed by and touched the property lines of four temples.  Can you name these four temples? 
ANSWER: US 89 bordered the property of the following temples during the 1970’s and 1980’s: 1) Mesa Arizona Temple  2) Manti Utah Temple  3) Salt Lake Temple  4) Ogden Utah Temple.  This highway comes very close to four other temples (Provo Utah, Mount Timpanogos, Jordan River, and Logan Utah).  US 89 was renamed and re-designated in Arizona in the early 1990’s, so the Mesa Temple no longer borders US 89.

QUESTION: Can you name the temples in the state of Utah that do not have an Angel Moroni statue?
ANSWER: Of the temples in Utah, three do not have an Angel Moroni statue.  The three are the Logan Utah Temple, the Manti Utah Temple, and the St. George Utah Temple.  NOTE: As of September 2023, other Utah temples do not have Angel Moroni statues.

QUESTION: Only four Church presidents did not dedicate a temple during their tenure as President of the Church.  Can you name these four presidents?
ANSWER: The four Presidents of the Church who did not dedicate a temple during their tenure as president are Brigham Young, Lorenzo Snow, Joseph F. Smith, and Harold B. Lee.

QUESTION: What temple was dedicated on the 158th anniversary of the martyrdom of Joseph and Hyrum Smith (June 27, 2002)?  *
ANSWER: Fittingly, the temple that was dedicated on the 158th anniversary of the martyrdom of Joseph and Hyrum is the Nauvoo Illinois Temple.

ANSWER: The following nine temples (listed alphabetically) do not have Angel Moroni statues:  1) Cardston Alberta  2) Hamilton New Zealand  3) Laie Hawaii  4) Logan Utah  5) Manti Utah  6) Mesa Arizona  7) Oakland California 8) Paris France Temple  9) St. George Utah.  Occasionally, local building codes or the possibility of cultural misconceptions preclude the use of an Angel Moroni statue.  NOTE:  Several other temples, as of September 2023, do not have Angel Moroni statues.

QUESTION:  Presently (4/6/2016), 33 of the 50 states in the United States have at least one temple in the state.  How many of those 33 states currently have more than one temple?
ANSWER:  Fourteen of the 33 states that have temples have more than one temple.  Those states are Utah, California, Arizona, Texas, Idaho, Washington, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Missouri, Nevada, New York, Oregon, and Tennessee.  NOTE:  These figures have changes dramatically as of September 2023.

ANSWER:  The Church has dedicated temples in 42 countries throughout the world.  NOTE:  This figure has now changed, as of September 2023.

QUESTION:  Only four of our current temples were built without spires or steeples.  Can you name these four temples?
ANSWER: The four temples without spires or steeples are the Laie Hawaii Temple, the Cardston Alberta Canada Temple, the Mesa Arizona Temple, and the Paris France Temple.

QUESTION: Only two of our current temples did not have an associated formal groundbreaking ceremony.  Can you name these two temples?
ANSWER:  The two temples for which a formal groundbreaking ceremony was not held are the Tokyo Japan Temple and the Paris France Temple.

QUESTION:  What is the shortest temple-to-temple distance outside of the state of Utah?
ANSWER:  The shortest temple-to-temple distance outside of Utah is the 8.8 mile distance between the Boise Idaho Temple and the Meridian Idaho Temple.  Inside the state of Utah, the Provo Utah Temple and the Provo Utah City Center Temple are only 2.4 miles apart.

ANSWER: 1) The first temple built outside of Utah was the Laie Hawaii Temple, dedicated in 1919.   2) The first temple built outside of the United States was the Cardston Alberta Temple, dedicated in 1923.   3) The first temple built in Europe was the Bern Switzerland Temple, dedicated in 1955.   4) The first temple built in South America was the Sao Paulo Brazil temple, dedicated in 1978.  5) The first temple built in Asia was the Tokyo Japan Temple, dedicated in 1980.   6) The first temple built in Africa was the Johannesburg South Africa Temple, dedicated in 1985.   7) The first temple dedicatory prayer offered in a language other than English was the dedicatory prayer for the Freiberg Germany Temple.  The dedicatory prayer was offered in German by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf.  The second temple dedicatory prayer offered in a language other than English was the prayer offered by Elder Dale G. Renlund at the dedication of the Kinshasa Democratic Republic of the Congo Temple on April 14, 2019.  The prayer was offered in French.
