Esther mural — Provo Missionary Training Center:
- 2:10 — Esther’s lineage and heritage was kept secret
- 3:2 — Mordecai refused to reverence Haman, Haman knew that Mordecai was Jewish
- 3:8 — Haman is deceitful and deceptive in his presentation to the king (“a certain people”)
- 3:13 — All Jews to die
- 4:3 — The Jews fast
- 4:8 — Mordecai asks Esther to intervene. She is now the queen.
- 4:11 — “Golden scepter” law – the king could sentence a person to death with his scepter
- 4:14 — “thou are come for such a time as this”
- 4:16 — three days of fasting and “if I perish, I perish”
- 5:13 — Haman is proud, spiteful, and arrogant
- 5:14 — Haman makes gallows for Mordecai (50 cubits! = 75 feet high!)
- 6:all — the king honors Mordecai for former valor and loyalty to the throne, Haman is given the responsibility to honor and exalt Mordecai
- 7:all — Esther reveals Haman’s deception and evil plot, and saves herself and her people
- 8:all — Haman is hung on his own gallows
- 8:15 — Mordecai was a BYU fan!
