Sons of Mosiah mural — Provo Missionary Training Center:
1/ All missionaries to read Alma 17:1-17
2/ District A – concentrate on verses 2, 5, and 11, and consider the following questions:
. • What does it mean to be a “brother [or sister] in the Lord”? (vs. 2)
. • What is the difference between “searching the scriptures diligently” and simply reading the scriptures? (vs. 2)
. • What types of “hunger, thirst, fatigue, and labor” might you encounter on your missions? (vs. 5)
. • What did the Lord mean when He told these missionaries to “establish my word”? (vs.11)
. • How do you plan to “show forth good examples” during your missions? (vs. 11)
3/ District B – concentrate on verses 3, 9, and 14, and consider the following questions:
. • What does it mean to “give yourself” to a worthy cause? (vs. 3)
. • Is “power” different than “authority”? If so, how? (vs. 3)
. • What type of “instrument” do you plan to be on your missions? (vs. 9)
. • Will you encounter “traditions of their fathers” on your missions? How will you deal with them? (vs. 9)
. • How did the sons of Mosiah deal with confronting “a wild and a hardened and a ferocious people”? Might you face hardened people on your mission? (vs. 14)
4/ District C – concentrate on verses 4, 10, and 16, and consider the following questions:
. • What three things did the “power of their words” bring to pass? How does apply to you? (vs. 4)
. • What is the importance of the word “said” in verse 10?
. • How does the Lord administer “comfort” to your souls? (vs. 10)
. • What was the ultimate goal of the sons of Mosiah as they served? How does that apply to you? (vs. 16)
