STIMULATOR message for the week of July 11, 1972

Message from President Eugene C. Ludwig, dated July 11, 1972

“Blessed it is to know that neither distance nor death can truly separate those who love.”

Dear Fellow Missionaries:

It is hard to put into words the feelings that are in my heart as I write what might be my last letter to you.  I can honestly say it is harder to leave the mission field than it was to leave home.  Our family has been blessed in our absence and I am sure our love for each other has grown as they have shared with us the wonderful experiences we have had these past three years.  We will be grateful to be reunited with them.

We sincerely love each one of you with all our hearts and feel a close bond of brotherhood that only the Gospel can bring about.  Our hearts are full of appreciation for your devotion to our Heavenly Father’s work.  The support you have given me as your President has not gone unnoticed.  Thank you for everything.

I feel today as I am sure King Benjamin felt when he gave his farewell talk to his people., knowing full well that what he had to say was to be his final admonition to them in the earth life.  In my book you are ‘True Messengers’ because each of you in your individual assignments are engaged in the service of declaring the Gospel truths to those the Lord is preparing for membership in His Kingdom.  Each of you has set goals in which you have promised your Heavenly Father you are willing to forget self and be an instrument in His hands in bringing this people to a knowledge of the truth.  I know each and every one of you will work diligently to fulfill your promises to your Heavenly Father.

It has been a blessing to Sister Ludwig and me to have the honor of working with each of you and having the privilege of touching your spirits and learning from you.  What a joy to see the changes that have come into your lives, along with the many people brought into the Church.  We shall always treasure our experience here in New Zealand.

As you continue your mission under your new president, extend to him the great support, sustaining power, and dedication you have given to us.  His new ideas and programs will guide you to greater achievement.  Follow him!  You can count on us to be supporting you and praying for your success.

May the Lord continue to bless you in the great mission is our humble prayer.

Love,

President Eugene C. Ludwig

“Your mission will be your greatest opportunity for spiritual education.” — President Howard W. Hunter
