STIMULATOR message for the week of October 19, 1971

Message from President Eugene C. Ludwig, dated October 19, 1971.

“HE TACKLED THE THING THAT COULDN’T BE DONE AND HE DID IT!”   “600” in 1971

Dear Fellow Missionaries,

What do you want as a missionary?  From childhood through manhood, the motivation of WANT influences our every action.  We rise and fall according to the intensity of our WANTS.  Think about it.  We all wanted to serve the Lord in this great missionary program or we wouldn’t be here.  If we are sincere in this desire, and by keeping our prime WANT constantly before us, we keep alive the drive which will lead us to be effective missionaries in serving our Father in Heaven.  This tempered with humility of heart and a knowledge of the Gospel will motivate us to discipline ourselves to be what we WANT to be.

If you WANT to be an effective missionary and are really sincere, then you simply cannot be stopped before you reach your objective.  Obstacles will mean nothing to you.  The “impossible’ will not slow you down.  You will go forward with strength and enthusiasm, overcoming every obstacle until you have reached your goal.

Let’s reread and ponder on the following scripture found in Doctrine and Covenants 11:3-4.  “Behold, the field is white already to harvest, therefore, whoso desireth to reap let him thrust in his sickle with his might, and reap while the day lasts, that he may treasure up for his soul everlasting salvation in the Kingdom of God.  Yea, whosoever will thrust in his sickle and reap the same is called of God.”

Elder Marion D. Hanks said: “God does not want us to fail.  He is pulling for us, trying to help us., but the key to the human heart is inside, isn’t’ it?  He won’t turn that key.  He wants us to turn it.  Together, we have the chance to help each other want to turn the key, to open the heart, to let God influence us and let His spirit comfort and strengthen us.  But the key to the heart is inside. No one will be able to turn it for us.  We have to WANT to.”

Our faith is in you!  Let’s reach our goal in October.

Sincerely yours,
President Eugene C. Ludwig

“THE ONLY LIMIT TO OUR REALIZATION OF TOMORROW WILL BE OUR DOUBTS OF TODAY.”    Congratulations to Elder Kenneth Stanley.  He achieved ALL of the mission standards this week.
