STIMULATOR message for the week of December 28, 1971

Message from President Eugene C. Ludwig, dated December 28, 1971.

“REJOICE EVERMORE.  PRAY WITHOUT CEASING.  IN EVERY THING GIVE THANKS…”

Dear Missionaries,

Thank you so much for your lovely Christmas cards and greetings.  It was indeed heart-warming to hear from so many of you.

Elder Matthew Cowley once said: “One of the greatest sins is the sin of ingratitude.”  I cannot help but look into my own life and reflect on all the things I have to be grateful for, a loving mother, faithful children, a kind and loving Father in Heaven, the opportunity of serving here in this mission, and many other things.  This past year has been a great year in the New Zealand South Mission, and I am filled with the emotion of joy for the privilege I have had and am now having of working with some of the greatest missionaries in the world.

I am grateful that through faith, exemplified in effort, that we have all been truly blessed by a loving and kind Heavenly Father to whom we are all indebted.  Sister Ludwig and I are appreciative of the success we have had this past year, along with the experiences of growth and development that have come to each of us in this mission.  We should express gratitude and thanks for our many blessings and for many people who are filled wih the love of the Gospel, such as General Authorities, stake and district presidencies, bishops and branch presidencies, dedicated members, companions and love ones who have all contributed in making this year one of the greatest years of our lives.

Success is a team effort.  We can be grateful for an effective missionary team.  “Let the work which I have appointed unto you, be continued on and not cease: and let your diligence, and your perseverance, and patience and your works be redoubled, and ye shall in no wise lose your reward, saith the Lord of Hosts…for all this there is a reward in Heaven.”  (Doctrine and Covenants 127:4)  Be aware, missionaries, that January 2, 1972 is Fast Sunday.  I would hope that each missionary and member of the Lord’s success team in the New Zealand South Mission will join together in a special fast of thanks and appreciation and love for a kind, wise Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, who has been true inspiration and motivation behind this great work here in New Zealand.  We truly have very, very much to be thankful for.

May the Lord continue to bless us to be worthy of  our many blessings.

Faithfully yours,
President Eugene C. Ludwig

“With the help of the Lord we can experience spiritual growth through disciplined living.”  Let’s all be united in prayer each morning at 6:30 a.m.
