Examples of wonderful examples

  • Jesus is the ultimate example, in every aspect of his life (3 Nephi 27:27)
  • Elder Holland, when first called as an apostle, had opportunities to travel with other members of the Twelve.  He would shine their shoes early in the morning, before they would awake.
  • President Monson was observed walking through the Salt Lake City airport in his stocking feet.  He had given his shoes to a brother in Europe who “needed them much more than I did”.
  • When Christ was being apprehended by the authorities outside the Garden of Gethsemane, impetuous Peter drew a sword and cut of the ear of a servant of a high priest.  Christ displayed no anger but healed the man.  He could have lashed out with anger, but such as not in his nature.  He reminded Peter that he could call down legions of angels to protect him if necessary.  ( I have wondered how the priests could carry on with their evil intents, having just watched Jesus restore a severed ear! )
  • When Nephi broke his bow, the entire family murmured and complained, including Lehi.  How did Nephi respond?  He calmly made another bow and then asked his complaining father where he should go to find game.
  • 1 Timothy 4:12 — be an example in word, conversation, charity, spirit, faith, purity.
  • The woman taken in adultery — go thy way and sin no more!  The high priests wanted to stone her.
  • Parley P. Pratt responded to a mission call from the prophet when it was UNBELIEVABLY inconvenient and inopportune to do so.
