Being an Example — Missionary Training Center talk
1/ A good leader sets an example of gospel living and devoted, self-less service to God and His children. A diligent leader strives to:
* Exercise faith in Jesus Christ
* Repent and become more like the Savior
* Keep covenants
* Receive the Holy Ghost
* Endure to the end
Be prepared to share your feelings about one of the five topics listed above.
2/ Consider the admonition in 1 Timothy 4:12 – “Let no man despise thy youth, but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” Ponder on these six areas of focus and be prepared to share your thoughts about one of them.
3/ President Harold B. Lee – ““You cannot lift another soul until you are standing on higher ground than he is. You cannot light a fire in another soul unless it is burning in your own soul.” Remember Elder Holland’s statement that everything in the conversion process must happen to you before it can happen to them [your amigos].
4/ President Monson – not wearing shoes in the Salt Lake City airport
5/ The Savior – the ultimate example:
* Responding to Jairus
* The woman with an issue of blood
* The feeding of the 5000
* Healing the severed ear
