‘Finding’ —  Much more than just ‘looking’  — Missionary Training Center presentation

Finding —  Missionary Training Center presentation:

  • Isaiah was sent to find King Ahaz, Ahaz was inspecting a well and observing a battle just outside of Jerusalem.  Isaiah found him and prophesied some things, but the Lord chose this unlikely time to reveal a much great “King”, the King of heaven and earth, and Isaiah had the vision of a virgin conceiving and bearing a son.
  • Acts 17:27-28, especially the Joseph Smith Translation — a beautiful scriptural definition of what it means to ‘find’ the Savior.
  • Shepherds “found” the Christ child in Bethlehem, the King in a manger, they had to look and work hard, the only directions they had received was that they would find a babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and laying in a manger.
  • The wise men “found” Jesus, What directions did they have — follow a star!
  • Anna and Simeon found Christ in the temple.  Can you imagine how hard that must have been with all the teeming multitudes?  Again, hard work, faith, and trust in the Lord.
  • Joseph and Mary “found ” Jesus in the temple, teaching the elders.  How hard did they look and seek to find?
  • “Find” implies searching, investigating, researching, effort, work, desire, faith.
  • Seek and ye shall find, How many times are we told that in the Doctrine and Covenants?
  • Nephi — the Lord prepares a way IF we go and do (1 Nephi 3:7).
  • We have either found Him, are looking for Him, or are being complacent.
