The Living Christ — Missionary Training Center talk

The Living Christ — MTC talk

The Testimony of the Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

District _______

  • Why is the word “Living” so important and essential in the title of the document?
  • In what ways is Christ’s life “matchless”? (Paragraph 1)
  • Share some aspects of the “profound…influence” Christ has had on all mankind or you?
  • Christ is the “Great Jehovah of the Old Testament”. The debate is over!  Why?
  • Christ is “the Creator of the earth”, “sinless”, “…doing good”, inviting us to “follow Him”, the teacher of “truths of eternity” and the “purpose of life”.  Share thoughts about one or more of these descriptions of the Savior.  (Paragraph 2)

District _______

  • Christ’s atoning sacrifice was a “great vicarious gift in behalf of all…”. What does that mean to you?  (Paragraph 3)
  • The Savior’s life did not “begin in Bethlehem or conclude on Calvary”. How is that a beautiful introduction to a discussion on the Plan of Salvation?  (Paragraph 4)
  • How does the fact that Christ “rose from the grave” bring peace to your soul? What does it tell us about Him and what does it mean for us in the future?
  • How can His visit to “other sheep” be a great missionary tool?
  • Why is it significant that our modern Apostles included in this inspired document TWO powerful revelations of Joseph Smith concerning the Savior?
  • D&C 110: 3-4 is quoted in the document, which includes the Savior’s statement, “I am your advocate with the Father.” What is an advocate?

District _______

  • Joseph Smith saw Christ “on the right hand of God”. What beautiful doctrinal truths are contained in that short statement?
  • D&C 76 teaches that “the inhabitants of [worlds] are begotten sons and daughters unto God.” Consider the doctrine taught in Mosiah 5:7, and draw a wonderful conclusion.
  • The Church of Jesus Christ is built upon ”a foundation of apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone.” The document includes the phrase, “We bear testimony, as His duly ordained Apostles – …”   Why is this statement significant?
  • “Each of us will stand to be judged of Him according to our works and the desires of our hearts.” How do you feel about this truth?  How can this be a missionary tool?
