The Oath and Covenant of the Melchizedek Priesthood – Provo Missionary Training Center — Leadership training
1/ The five great sections dealing with the Priesthood: 13, 20, 84, 107, 121
2/ The Oath and Covenant is found in Section 84:33-44
a/ We promise to :
1/ Be faithful
2/ Be worthy
3/ To RECEIVE the priesthood
4/ To MAGNIFY our callings
5/ To receive the Lord’s servants
6/ Give diligent heed to the gospel
b/ The Lord promises to :
1/ Extend the priesthood to us
2/ Sanctify us by His Spirit
3/ Renew our bodies
4/ Share all that He has with us
5/ Adopt us as sons of Moses and Aaron
6/ Adopt us as sons of Abraham (the five P’s)
7/ Have us BECOME His church
8/ Be elect!
3/ Does the Oath and Covenant of the Priesthood apply to all Melchizedek Priesthood holders or only to those who receive the ‘fulness of the Priesthood’?
4/ The Aaronic Priesthood is NOT received with an oath or a covenant (Mormon Doctrine, page 11)
5/ Sons of Moses are Melchizedek Priesthood holders; sons of Aaron are Aaronic Priesthood holders (see verse 34, taught by President Marion G. Romney)
6/ Can an individual BE the church? The church can only be governed to the extent that we govern ourselves.
