Miscellaneous Pearls — Becoming ‘better’ after experiencing the ‘bitter’

Part of this painful and proving mortal experience we call ‘life’ is to see if we will indeed ‘press forward’.  Brother David Schramm, in the February 2022 Liahona magazine, presents the following four important keys to remember:

  • Search inward:  Alma 36:3 — “…for I do know that whosoever shall put their trust in God shall be supported in their trials, and their troubles, and their afflictions, and shall be lifted up at the last day.’
  • Turn outward:  1 Nephi 17:5 — “…if any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.”
  • Look upward:  Doctrine and Covenants 121:7-8 — “My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversities and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment; and then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes.”
  • Press forward:  2 Nephi 31:20 — “Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men…”
