These suggestions were presented in the January 13, 2024 edition of the Church News:
- Things to say to one who is grieving:
- “I don’t know what to say right now, but I am so glad you told me.”
- “Tell me about what you are feeling right now.”
- “I care about you.”
- “I am here for you.”
- “It is okay to feel this way.”
- Five things not to say to someone who is grieving:
- “I know exactly how you feel.”
- “Just have faith; everything will work out.”
- “At least you….”
- “God has a plan.”
- “They are in a better place.”
