Qasids
A qasid is a Hebrew / Arabic grammatical expression in which a person is compared to an inanimate object. The terms ‘anthropomorphism’ and ‘personification’ express the same meaning.
- Psalm 36:6 — The psalmist says the following regarding the Lord: “Thy righteousness is like the great mountains: thy judgments are a great deep:…”
- 1 Nephi 2:9 — In this verse, Lehi says to his son Laman, “O that thou mightest be like unto this river, continually running into the fountain of all righteousness!”
- 1 Nephi 2:10 — In this verse, Lehi says to his son Lemuel, “O that thou mightest be like unto this valley, firm and steadfast,…”
All of the above is further evidence that the Book of Mormon is indeed sacred, translated scripture, and not the crafty deceptions of a cunning, sinister young man, as the critics would propose.
