D&C 20:38-45 — The duties of an elder
- To baptize
- To ordain other elders, priests, teachers, and deacons
- Administer the emblems of the Sacrament
- To confirm those who are baptized into the Church by the laying on of hands
- To teach, expound, exhort
- To watch over the church
- To take the lead of all meetings
- To conduct the meetings as they are led by the Holy Ghost
- To perform all of these duties “by the power of the Holy Ghost”
D&C 20:26-52 — The duties of a priest

- To serve as a valiant disciple of Christ through priesthood power and service
- To serve an honorable full-time mission
